The story of Amouage began in 1983 when his majesty, Sayyid Hamad bin Hamoud al bu Said of Oman decided to return the Arabian art of perfume making to its original home in the region. The perfume factory was built in the city of Muskat, Oman and today this factory still makes the handmade perfume flasks for Amouage.
The French perfumer, Guy Robert, created the world’s most valuable perfume. He brought the experience of a long family tradition to the composition of Amouage. During his career he also created some of the masterpieces of perfumery for such famous houses as Hermes, Dior and Rochas, just to name a few. He himself refers to Amouage as his symphony, the crowning touch to his career.
Gold, frankincense and myrrh, the three gifts of the Orient, were combined through the magic of this master perfumer into one special fragrance. Over 120 natural ingredients from around the world are used in this creation. An important component is the purest and rarest incense, Silver Frankincense. Each drop of this precious resin is still harvested in the traditional manner by hand. According to legend, these trees are protected by angels!
The essences of the Rock Rose which comes from a secret mountain in Jebel Akdhar, myrrh from Zanzibar, patchouli from the Seychelles islands, sandalwood from India, ylang ylang from Morroco and Gayak wood from Paraguay are just a small sampling of the ingredients in this precious blend.
The limited edition Amouage flasks were created by the royal jeweler, Asprey’s of Bond Street in London. The extremely complex perfume is produced in Paris and sent by boat to the perfume factory in Muskat, Oman where it is filled into the flasks by hand according to ancient tradition then packaged.
Amouage vouches for the highest quality of its perfume and offers this luxurious fragrance in Arabian perfume tradition to the modern world. |
