Tubéreuse Criminelle is the perfume of this year's Christmas Collector Limited Edition by Serge Lutens - an outstanding fragrance that has already been introduced in 1999 at Les Salons du Palais Royal Shiseido.

In 2010, the fragrance was ranked in sixth place out of the top 25 bestselling products at Les Salons du Palais Royal Shiseido.

THE FRAGRANCE

Tubéreuse Criminelle was made to polarize. That becomes clear especially during the opening of the fragrance, which once again demonstrates the untamed and passionate character of Serge Lutens´s perfumes. Uncompromisingly, the fragrance (which is available only for a short time on the German market) follows the authenticity of an artificial tour de force. This also means to oppose prevailing trends and to strictly follow a vision.

The character of Tubéreuse Criminelle can best be described by three adjectives:

Symbolical - sensual - fatal

The fragrance opens dramatically in the true sense of the word, and fragrance aficionados describe it with the wildest connotations and associations. It causes a true storm of emotions: Eucalyptus, camphor, jasmine and orange blossom result in an olfactory combination that you probably have never smelled before. Overwhelming, fascinating and incredibly complex, the top note is an archetypical symbol of the magic that can be found in a fragrance.

The very eccentric opening generously rewards the patience of the carrier: The dry-down and the transition into the heart of the fragrance may seem like a heaven on earth for every tuberose lover. It is doubtful whether there is another perfume that celebrates the tuberose in a similar way. The spiciness of the top note blows into the heart and drives the tuberose to maximum power. However, some may be surprised by the natural character of this fragrance note: In this variant, it shows a silky-smooth face, more creamy than sweet, and is surprisingly pretty cool.

The base enters calming, bringing the high-altitude flights of the heart back to earth. The sweet notes of vanilla and musk bring a kind of ease and relief similar to that we all know from the end of a roller coaster ride.

Tubéreuse Criminelle is not an ordinary perfume, it is an adventure and an experience, and you have to be ready and prepared to get involved in it. If you expect a pleasing everyday fragrance, you should rather look for a different kind of perfume.
