„Better blind than no sense of smell“ seems to be the credo of Mark Buxton, German-Englishman in Paris and one of the most imaginative minds in the fragrance industry.
At the beginning, there was just an idea: blindly distinguishing scents and win a TV bet. The bet was lost, but a great talent was discovered - Mark Buxton received an offer from the perfume house Haarmann & Reimer to become a perfumer. Mark Buxton accepted.
A few years later, he reached Paris, the world´s capital of perfume. There he lives and works today – and he´s an extraordinary phenomenon: Any nose can distinguish 10,000 odors, but only people like Mark Buxton are also able to denominate several thousand of them. As he says, only by talking about it, one can train the olfactory sense.
His style is characterized by the highest precision combined with maximum dedication. His scents are mystical, provocative and urban. A perfumer could never be a star, he claims - while proving the exact opposite with every single new fragrance creation... |
