Christian Dior

Dior has been called “The most recognized name in fashion..." Born in Normandy France in 1905, this fashion and fragrance legend started off to study political science. By 1938 he had turned to dress design but because of his tour of duty in World War II, he was not able to develop his design business until 1946. His first collection released in 1947 featured a “New Look”; a richer look in contrast to the austerity of war styles which featured luxury rather than comfort. His creations helped re-establish formerly occupied France as the capital of world fashion.

In the United States, the dressmaker received the Oscar of the mode, but successes would not have been complete without the creation of his house of perfume and the appearance of his first fragrance called « MISS DIOR » (1947). This perfume will be marketed, at the beginning, in a Baccarat bottle in form of amphora. Later, one will find it in a bottle or will appear the hound's-tooth reason for Tweed.
