The Countess di Castiglione, better known as La Castiglione, was an Italian courtesan who achieved notoriety as a mistress of Emperor Napoleon III of France. She was also a significant figure in the early history of photography as a model and collaborator of photographer Pierre-Louis Pierson.
The perfume "Lady Silver" by Contessa di Castiglione is a sensuous cocktail of floral, spicy and woody scent notes.
The Countess was acclaimed for her "divine beauty" and flamboyant entrances in elaborate dress at the imperial court. The Countess also took on theatrical personalities and often played the opera heroine, photographing herself in poses as if making a grand entrance.
