By Kilian - Asian Tales
ASIAN TALES was first conceived as an olfactive voyage, yet soon transformed into a spiritual journey as meanings behind symbols and words became increasingly significant and relevant. As the creation took shape, every detail was placed with careful attention and with the intent to pay homage to this great culture.
The Opera Red
Red is a lucky color in China, often worn by Emperors and by the Nobility during official ceremonies.
KILIAN has chosen, specifically, the "opera red" which symbolizes courage, righteousness and loyalty in the Chinese culture. The “opera red” of the satin and the black lacquer of the wood coffret create a harmony of opposites and represent the feeling of a “precious jewel” that Kilian had in mind when creating this collection.
The Amulet
The coin, in China, is regarded as an amulet, a gauge of prosperity. It is said that the coin must be attached to a red string to activate its success. In our collection, the coin is attached to the key through a red tassel and a red string, therefore, developed as an amulet to bring success to the wearer of the fragrance. Our coin has been made in shiny silver to also bring a touch of modernity.
The Lucky 8
The number 8 is THE lucky number in Chinese culture as it is believed to bring prosperity and happiness. It is also a perfectly symmetrical shape and, therefore, representative of perfect balance. Our coin is engraved with 8 letter "K’s", in the logotype of the KILIAN brand.
