Paulo Gigli - The Manufacturer

The LUXURY PERFUMES by PAOLO GIGLI are produced and successfully disposed throughout the world by Nello Gigli & Figlio. Nello Gigli & Figlio was founded in 1950 in Sesto Fiorentino, a charming town near Florence. In Florence, the birthplace of great artists, Nello Gigli's passion for the decoration of precious glass envelopes and the composition of exquisite fragrances was awakened.

For more than 50 years the company decorates "Murano glass" with enamelled 24 K gold embossments inspired by the style of the Venetian eighteenth century. In many different production steps Nello Gigli's products are all decorated by hand by master craftsmen and that is why every piece is unique in its genre, never exactly identical, because it has been created by the paint-brush of decoration artists.

Paolo Gigli - The Flacons

For more than 50 years the classical decorations of G Perfumes by Paolo Gigli have been created using the ancient and unique technique of the 'three fires' -: the bottles are put into special ovens and baked at 550° C three times for several hours, which guarantees permanent adherence of the gold decoration to the glass or crystal.

In the first step master craftsmen premix coloured enamel varnish to provide a basis for further decorations. Now for the first time the glass is baked at 550° C for 5 hours in a special oven. In a second step the relief of molten porcelain is applied to the glass. Afterwards the decorated bottles are to be baked a second time.

In the third step the artist reworks the glass decor and applies 24 K gold with a mink brush. Then the bottles are baked for the last time. This process requires several days and after that the bottles are polished to a high finish in order to be filled with exquisite fragrances.
