Editions de Parfums Frederic Malle - Rose Tonnerre
What could be more noble than the queen of all flowers - the rose? How about a noble rose... and the finest Périgord truffles?
Yes, indeed: in Rose Tonnerre (formerly known as "Une Rose"), master perfumer Edouard Fléchier has made the unbelievable come true and married the luxury delicacy from the soil off to the grande dame of the floral world. This resulted in an extraordinary liaison - and a unique rose perfume that only a true master is able to compose.
The concept
Edouard Fléchier is one of the most creative perfumers of his generation. "Combining truffle, a gastronomic ingredient, with rose," he explains, "was a risky gamble". That daring game began with an olfactory sketch by the exceptional perfumer, which he submitted to Frèdèric Malle: Edouard Fléchier wanted to reproduce the aroma of a Périgord truffle - while blinding out its "garlic" aspects.
For this purpose, he composed a melange of dark notes, which he combined with a very special rose aroma: a novel Turkish rose absolute, obtained through molecular distillation and researched in the laboratories of the French fragrance specialist Mane. Many perfumers consider it to be the best rose absolute on the market. Generous amounts of the noble floral distillate are to be found in Rose Tonnerre.
The fragrance
The overwhelming sensuality of a Turkish rose meets the depth of a truffle accord. Woody and mineral, honeyed and fruity-floral facets light up. Flavors of patchouli, vetiver and an animal touch of castoreum evoke a truffle impression that is as exceptional as it is impressive.
Rose Tonnerre: An earthy, dark rose - deep, iconic,... and truly unique.
