Diptyque - Kollektion 2024 - Do Son - Eau de Parfum
With Do Son, Diptyque captures an eternal childhood memory of Yves Coueslant - and makes it immortal...
As a child, the co-founder of Diptyque spent many a summer in Do Son, a district of the Vietnamese metropolis of Haiphong. There, on the edge of Halong Bay and on the shores of the Gulf of Tonkin, his father once had a pagoda built. This building, typical of (South) East Asia, was a really beautiful place to spend extended summer vacations...
In Do Son, the large port of Haiphong and its humid heat were far away, the air was noticeably cooler, the climate more pleasant. A fresh sea breeze blew around young Yves Coueslant's nose - and brought with it the beguiling, slightly sweet and spicy aroma of an exotic flower: the scent of tuberose! It probably came from the Haipong market, where tuberoses (along with ylang and jasmine flowers) were wrapped in large canna leaves for offerings.
The fragrance
A wonderful floral scent rises in the summer twilight of Vietnam: notes of ambered wood and delicate jasmine and orange blossoms mingle with the sensual aroma of a radiant tuberose.
In the Eau de Parfum version of Do Son, the essence of tuberose appears particularly intensively: a flower between beguiling lightness and fascinating sensuality - a perfume as unforgettable as a childhood memory from Indochina.
The bottle
The perfume bottle of the Do Son Collection 2024 enchants with an illustration full of Far Eastern poetry: In keeping with the story of Do Son, the drawing shows a small pagoda surrounded by exotic plants, with a view of the sea and a boat with two sails. In the background, some of the karst rocks typical of Halong Bay can be seen.
