Snowberry - Natural Beauty
A natural Wonderland
Snowberry Founder, Cosmetician Soraya Hendesi’s lifelong fascination with ‘natural beauty’ and her frustration at being unable to find skincare that she felt she could trust, prompted her to begin the demanding but exciting process of creating her own range four years ago.
Committed to her vision, Soraya wanted her anti-ageing skincare range to be completely transparent in terms of its ingredients and free from harmful chemicals right through to adopting a strict no-compromise policy when it comes to incorporating parabens or a variety of petrochemicals. Nevertheless, although a ‘natural’ brand, she was determined that her product had to include the clinically proven compounds that actually rejuvenate and repair skin.
Snowberry was chosen as the name because it instantly suggests the purity, freshness, youth and natural origins that sit at the very core of her vision. Snowberry, she says, is ‘authentic skincare’ that women can trust, absolutely, because that is what she wanted for herself, her family and her friends
In time, and with her husband Mark’s encouragement, she set about finding people with the cosmeceutical expertise to help her turn her mission into reality, a journey which eventually led her to the door of New Zealand based Bio Chemist, Dr Andy Lavrent.
When Dr Lavrent met Soraya in 2003, he was excited that for the very first time in his career, he would be able to formulate skincare without regard to the cost and quantity of ingredients. The only limitation Soraya placed on the ingredients was that they must be sustainably derived, and with the exception of such ingredients as honey, silk and cultured marine extracts, were not to be derived from animals. They were also to be certified safe for use on human skin, by the most reputable dermatological institutes.
By the end of 2006, the Snowberry core range of products was born consisting of a face serum, eye serum, two day creams, a night cream, an exfoliator, eye make-up remover and toner.
In Snowberry, Soraya believes her dream has finally come to fruition - authentic skincare. Authentic skincare, she says, can take a little more time, but its effect is more enduring. As Soraya says, ‘’authentic skincare means only that which is natural or naturally derived, that we know will augment the skin’s own regenerative processes – as if those nutrients and oils, antioxidants, peptide complexes and enzymes had been produced by the skin itself. Authentic skincare, she says, is about the gentle enhancement of the natural beauty in every individual.”
